Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its eyes glow brightly at night, and it enjoys attacking insects and small animals.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Iouywot was frozen as a hatchling in order to appease a dragon collector, who sold this dragon off to a rich girl's father for a large sum of money. Iouywot doesn't mind being frozen though and is arguably better off, since they're quite slow for a Black Dragon and have weaker legs than most hatchlings of their species. This doesn't dampen their energy though. They still love to hunt and bite and pounce on toys and people; they're just clumsier at doing it than most.
