Royal Blue dragons are a nocturnal breed who prefer to live high in the mountains near slow-moving water that reflects the night sky. Although quite capable of defending themselves, they are peaceful by nature and will avoid a fight whenever possible.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Shami knows that nothing in life is ever simple, that everything and everyone has layers and differences in tone and intention. Thirty dragons that can all be described as romantics all mean slightly (or even vastly) different things if they say they believe in "true love". The members of the MAA are all great poets and artists, yet when one of them gives an interpretation of another member's song, it can become something completely new, although the lyrics and melody stay the same. Shami has devoted her life to exploring all these shades and subtle differences in the hope of understanding her fellow dragons as well as possible.
