Sunset Dragons are closely related to sunrise dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunset Dragons generally live alone or in small packs. They are more active in the evening, hunting and performing all of their daily tasks as the sun sets.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

As a sunset dragon, FirstNight is naturally a loner. However, something was quite wrong with him as an egg, causing him to think he was some sort of brooding anti-hero. The moment he hatched, he trained to be a fighter, often retreating deep into the wilderness for "spirit quests". Often, he'd be gone for so long that Arborial would have to go find him and bring him back to the cave. Since Empress PrissWing believes his story, he also believes that she is royalty, and has become something like a knight to her. He was brought in with a nature freak, a floating glutton and Empress PrissWing, who is nothing short of a spoiled brat.
