Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ammiara dances her days away, frolicking in the sky from morning til night, gracefully maneuvering through the air while flaunting the glorious ribbons she was named for. Though her skill has given her a slight vanity problem, Ammiara is still adored by her cave-mates, many of whom often actually appear to grow cheerier in her presence. Ammiara and the other Christmas dragons in the cave disappear yearly towards the end of December; though none of their fellows know exactly where they go off to, she and the others are always more joyous than usual for a number of weeks following their return. This window of time every year is Ammiara's finest, her grace seemingly amplified for a time by the joys of the Christmas season.
