Magi Dragons are, as their name suggests, primarily magic users. They rarely use physical forms of attack. They eat anything they can kill, which is almost everything. They won’t kill unprovoked except when hunting, although they may kill humans if in danger. Their strong magic makes them one of the most feared breeds of dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Powerful magi pyromancers aren't especially rare—Lady Incendia, Kyben Phoenixflame, and Zigal Phoenixmage come immediately to mind—but there are rumors of an elite group who makes even these look like amateurs: the dragons of Fireflood Weyr.  Located in the side of an active volcano and protected by numerous guards and spells, the weyr is only open to those with enough fire magic to overcome the challenges presented by the weyr's leaders.

Ignar, as the first dragon to successfully complete all of the challenges, has entirely too high an opinion of himself.  To hear him boast, one would think the three leaders and Pyromancer had learned everything they know from him.  For all his bragging, Ignar is harmless enough, and is in fact quite an incentive for the younger dragons, as they all strive to become just as skilled as he is.
