Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The first child born by the mad Gravitas and the twisted Umbra, Penumbra has grown to have little understanding of right from wrong. Penumbra, unlike her mother, has little aptitude for magic, but she makes up for this by being very strong and cunning. She can easily fight on par with most male dragons (and in many cases overtake them) thanks in part to her feminine intuition and cool, level head. Penumbra is fiercely loyal to her family and acts as the body guard of her parents, getting quickly agitated when unknown dragons approach them. In battle, she fights best with her mother who compliments her strong physical prowess with incredibly potent magic, stunning enemies and leaving them defenseless for Penumbra's final blow.
