Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It seems allergic to something, and every time it sneezes sparks shoot from its nose and mouth.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Zapdos Zaibas is a sad little Thunder indeed. Unable to soar in the skies or play in the storms, he sits sullenly and stares intently at those who can. His jealousy has made him a dangerous playfellow, and all the other young dragons are taught to avoid Zapdos upon gaining their wings. He is only convivial with a few of the other stunted and wingless hatchlings; his closest friend is Sparks Raad, the only dragon able to make him laugh and forget his situation for a small while.
