Shimmer-scale Dragons are a very beautiful breed with small—but highly reflective—scales that shimmer and shine as the dragon moves through water. They don’t have fins or webbed feet, but their long, eel-like bodies allow them to swim quite fast. They were once rumored to carry large pearls in their claws—causing many to seek them out in search of this fabulous treasure. In reality, the “pearl” is of greater value to the dragon, for the fabled treasure is actually an egg carried by a migrating female.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The Princess Jiyi is a great patroness of the arts, whatever form they take. Lian, as she is called by her fellow court members, gives the most support of any dragon to the clan's artistic endeavors. She is also known to barter works from artists in the clan purely because she can and wants to see them succeed... though usually that is ONLY if she likes their work. She isn't actually involved in leading any thing of the kind herself. Her duties as a member of the shimmer scale court keep her far too busy. This saddens her because as much as she would love to be able to have the freedom to paint, draw or sculpt, she finds herself without much time to do any of these artistic things. She dabbles in them though; it does make a handy way to unwind after a long day. Her sense of taste is widely known throughout the JavaTiger Clan as impeccable and more than once has she set some decorating trend within her own tidy, and exceedingly elegant, little portion of the court's part of the cave.
