Sunbeam Drakes are the diurnal counterparts to Moonglow Drakes, their eggs having been laid during the daylight hours. They are around the size of a small dog, and while docile, can be flighty and easily startled. Most can be found high in treetops enjoying the bright sunlight, tucking themselves away at the first sign of a storm or impending nightfall. Sunbeam Drakes enjoy flying in the light of the sun, and their treetop dances are beautiful, dazzling, and serene.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

Tidzi is the Royal Menagerie's first glory drake, kept with the ochredrakes for lack of a better place to put him.  He'd love to be allowed to mingle with visitors, but the keepers are reluctant to let him do so, for fear of him going home in someone's pocket.  Tidzi seems happy enough among the much larger ochredrakes, but the keepers are trying to find him glory drake companions, so he'll have someone closer to his own size to play with.
