Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Irlis is the complete and utter opposite of Hikaru. Coming from a family with a very romance-heavy background, Irlis hates the whole idea of "love" and "romance". In his mind all those silly notions are just there so that intelligent creatures like dragons can feel better about themselves when they give in to nature's prerogative to mate and spread their lineages. A truly enlightened dragon, however, should not need to lie to himself like that.
