Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Nayran may be small, and she may be female, but she has a fierce temper that makes the adult dragons laugh. Such a snappy attitude in a dragon so little is very funny sometimes. Nayran tries especially hard to act superior to the other hatchlings, excepting Guardian Charflare. She secretly likes him, but feels bitter because Charflare already likes Mynna.
