Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has a large, shield-like object at the end of its tail that it uses for protection.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Fiv is a rather fierce protector in spite of his young age and small size. Fiv watches over the other hatchlings in the Cave and makes sure that they don't wander off or find themselves attacked. Fiv can often be seen standing guard next to the adult guardian dragons until his parents gently shoo him off to bed for the night. The other hatchlings respect Fiv and appreciate his constant vigilance on their behalf, even if they don't really understand him.
