Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Forgive, as his name suggests, has always preferred diplomacy and conciliation over fighting out issues. The clan where he is stuck rarely shares this choice, however, and thus his claws have seen rather more use than he would prefer. Most irritating is his mate, Forgot; she shunts all the work assigned to that pair to him, claiming that she just can't remember what has to be done. He completes their tasks faithfully and drags her to clan orator Force Majeure, but even he can't force any sense into her. Forgive tries to keep his name in mind, but his patience will snap one day.
