Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Right after hatching it excitedly hurried into the water.

And look! It has gotten larger and gained vibrant red markings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Nami Safa, Wave Surfer, loves his underwater home. He enjoys swimming with all of the different colored fish and making them scatter now and then just for a little fun. One of his favorite things to do is to ride on the waves that swell in the reef. He likes riding them until he is close to shore before dipping down below it and swimming against its influence, thus avoiding being stranded on the beach. He has done this since he was an even smaller hatchling, thus his name.

His name means 'Wave Surfer'.
