Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has bright blue eyes, and is as clumsy as any other hatchling, but it never seems to get injured.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Little Kiyoshi ran into the wrong witch, and now she will never grow up to be one of "them". She watches them soar overhead, wishing she could see what they can see. Teased by the other hatchlings for being old, and by the adult dragons for being young, Kiyoshi has become a very solitary dragon. She found a hole in the wall of the cave, where she lives out her days. It's too high for the other, "normal" hatchlings, but too small for the other, "normal" adults. She has a set of dingling toys she made out of rocks, wood and pebbles. Because of what she's been through, Kiyoshi is said to sing the most beautiful and sad songs in the twilight of the cave, often lulling young hatchlings (and some adults) to sleep.
