When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

James Cook is a dragon who believes that he can explore and navigate the whole world. Ever since his Keeper told him about a human navigator called Captain James Cook, he has strived to be just like him.

He likes to "explore" new areas (really, areas that he just hasn't been to before) and make maps of them, even though he's a Water dragon. He'll just draw out lines in the sand with his tail, and get pretty upset when he comes back the next day only to find out that all his hard work had been washed away.

James Cook still likes exploring and making maps, even though it usually doesn't last. He thinks it's all in good fun.
