Royal Blue dragons are a nocturnal breed who prefer to live high in the mountains near slow-moving water that reflects the night sky. Although quite capable of defending themselves, they are peaceful by nature and will avoid a fight whenever possible.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Tooluruk is the mate of Vindere de Bixen, the head of de Bixen branch of SparrowSelkie's clan. Unlike her mate, Tooluruk tries to forgive Embiruk, thinking he defected because he loved Silverity. Embiruk and most of his branch refuse to talk to Tooluruk, but Tooluruk's granddaughter Hycynthia loves talking to her grandmother. Tooluruk has to keep her meetings with Hycynthia a secret from Vindere, because he doesn't want his branch associating with 'them', as he calls the Dorkfaces.
