Feisty and energetic, Whiptail Dragons pride themselves on their speed and agility. It is not unusual to see several whiptails racing each other. Though fragile, they can easily evade attacks with their superior speed, and often use their long tails as a weapon, giving rise to their name.

Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Swiftflash is a typical whip dragon, he is built for speed and enjoys racing his mate, a neotropical dragon named Neoncolors. She is the only clan dragon that is not a whip dragon that can run faster then him. Ever since she was young he had his eyes on her but she never seemed to notice him until he saved her from a bear. The bear nearly killed him and he broke a few bones in the fight. He managed to win over his mate, he hasn't been able to run as fast but being her mate was worth it. He can be a bit prideful of his speed, seeing as he can still out run most of the dragons on Featherheart's scroll. He is a very loyal and trustworthy dragon, not one to break promises. He is also very outgoing but never flirts with anyone but his mate Neoncolors.
