Avatars of Change are unpredictable, exuberant dragons whose unique connection to magic has saturated their entire bodies. It is said that possessing one of their iridescent scales can change one’s fate, and many have sought the favor of these dragons hoping to receive a scale as a gift.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

A highly reserved dragon for one of her breed, Ambrise changes the world not through motion or energy, but through kind gestures and gentle pushes. Always seeming to know just who needs a nudge to become a hero, the regions through which she passes always see an unusual surge of bravery and good deeds before and after she departs... and yet, even as she encourages such acts, they never seem to be her primary purpose. Digging through the ancestral records of a thousand cities, chasing whispers of secrets on the wind, Ambrise searches for something of graver importance; a prophecy of the rebirth of seven demons, a catastrophe that must be prevented lest all the world fall to ruin. Joined in this task by her energetic companion Mattias, the two have progressed unimpeded so far, but of late a pair of green eyes has begun to watch them through the dark...
