Red Dragons are similar to typical story book dragons. They shoot flames, can fly, etc. However, they aren’t evil creatures as depicted in myths and won’t go around raiding castles, killing knights, or kidnapping princesses. They live in a variety of habitats, from forests to coastlines to abandoned castles, usually in warm climates, and eat whatever living creatures they can find.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

As a hatchling, the fiesty young Margalin fought off a small pack of wolves who were preying on wingless hatchlings. She loved it---the feel of power coursing through her veins, seeing the animals cower at her strength---and begged to train with the other warriors. She failed at first, but refusing to be demoralized, she continued to train and eventually managed to catch up. Her determination turned her into a fine warrior, well known for not only her skill but her beauty as well. Until that night, when the rogues attacked. But as Margalin stood on top of their bested leader, claws at his throat, watching the fear reflect in his gaze, she realized she couldn't do it. The rogues won that night, and their leader gave Margalin a lesson she'd never forget: scarring her beautiful face and maiming her so that she could never be a warrior again. A day hasn't passed where she doesn't think of that night, angry not at the rogue leader but herself for giving up everything she held dear.
