Sunset Dragons are closely related to sunrise dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunset Dragons generally live alone or in small packs. They are more active in the evening, hunting and performing all of their daily tasks as the sun sets.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ka-Atum is a quiet, reserved, and deeply spiritual dragon who finds much of sacred importance to contemplate in the closing of the day. His participation in the sunset dance-flight ritual is devout, almost prayerful, and silent—he will not speak until it is complete. He is solemn and gentle, and spends much of his time during the day wrapped in profound meditation in his cave, with his brilliant wings wrapped tightly around him as if to shut out the noisy world. In his meditation, he often finds inspiration for beautiful hymns, singing his reverence for the sun, which sacrifices itself in glorious beauty every evening to allow life to experience both the bright blessed day and the dark sacred night.
