Seasonal Dragons take on the characteristics of the season during which they are born. Thus, eggs that are laid in spring match the pink flowers and green buds of spring, and those that are laid in the summer grow to depict the bright green of the forest trees and the yellow of the sun. Eggs laid in autumn display the bright colors of leaves falling from trees, and those that are laid during winter take on the appearance of the icy snow.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The Freani-eplith, or Friends of the Forest, are a guild that has sworn to protect the forest and all who pass through it. There are four "divisions" within the guild: The Guardians, The Cloud Guard, The Earth Guard, and The Bloodseekers.

The Earth Guard functions much like the Cloud Guard, just as a land unit. They rarely intervene in the affairs of humans and other dragons, preferring to simply observe and report back to the Guardians or the Leader.

Elviktri is a fierce and well-respected member of the Earth Guard. She appears to be telepathically mute, but when she arrives at the group den of the Guardians, everyone knows to follow her. It can be difficult to keep up with Elviktri—she has memorized every rock, root, and fallen branch in the forest. The ease with which she winds between the trees is rather impressive, honestly. She is frequently courted by Skisur, a Cassare dragon that has only recently joined the guild. She has mixed feelings about this, but has yet to reject him.
