Grandfather
's Clock -verse1-2
It stopp'd short - Never to go
Ninety years without slumbering
that he was born - And was
My grandfather
's clock was too
large for the shelf
always his treasure and pride
So it stood ninety years on the
floor -- It was taller by half
tick tock tick tock
But it stopp'd short - never to
than the old man himself
Though it weighed not
go again - When the old man died
a pennyweight
more -- It was
bought on the morn of the day
again - When the old man died
His life seconds numbering
With a blooming and beautiful
In watching its pendulum swing
to and fro - Many hours had he
bride -- But it stopp'd short
spent while a boy -- And in
childhood and manhood the clock
tick tock tick tock
never to go again
seemed to know - And to share
both his grief and his joy
When the old man died
For it struck twenty-four
when
he entered at the door
